Where have you gone Matthew Crawley? Dan Stevens' alarming new look

If you had any doubts that Downton Abbey's beloved Matthew Crawley is, in fact, dead, here is the irrefutable evidence. Dan Stevens has eradicated all traces of the character that made him a household name with a stunning new look he debuted in New York City at the GLAAD awards. Looking positively gaunt and sporting a shaggy head of dark hair (we won't even discuss the mustache), Stevens seems to be taking a page out of the Hollywood starlets' playbook that espouses the 'lollipop look' as a ticket to stardom.

While we always thought he could lose a few pounds, this look is wrong, absolutely wrong for him. If you want our advice, fire your stylist, get yourself to Sharon Dorram and return to blond asap and remember you're British, for goodness sakes. To paraphrase the Dowager Countess: "Don't be so obvious about your ambitions dear,  it's very middle class."

A recent 'Lunch at Michael's' where I was joined by supermodel Coco Rocha

I was thrilled to discover Gotham's new spring issue features a terrific shout out to my "Lunch" column in their feature on Michael's restaurant. Writes Gary Walther of my reporting on the Wednesday scene: "chronicled exuberantly, surgically, table-hoppingly by Diane Clehane on mediabistro.com" and of my writing: "She dispenses shout-outs, bouquets, air kisses and clever slyness ..." We couldn't have said it any better ourselves. Thanks!

It seems only fitting that this melancholy shot of a weary Lady Mary holding her fatherless son is the first official photo to be released of Downton Abbey's season four. In the aftermath of the shocking season three finale, Julian Fellowes has given many interviews saying that the focus on the upcoming season will be on Mary's journey to find herself again in the face of Matthew's death and as a new mother. The show will pick up six months after the finale and there are several new cast members that will be joining the show. As I reported exclusively in January, Shirley MacLaine will be returning as Cora's mother Martha Levinson. She's sure to have plenty of advice for Mary. More on the new season coming soon!
