'Lunch' With Dark Shadows' Star Kathryn Leigh Scott

For this week's 'Lunch,' I was joined by Dark Shadows' star and author Kathryn Leigh Scott

My all-time favorite television show is Dark Shadows, the gothic soap that ran on WABC-TV and changed television forever. With its classically scary storylines that included vampires, werewolves, demonic possession and time travel it was clearly ahead of its time. Think about it, without Dark Shadows, there would be no Buffy the Vampire Slayer, True Blood or even Outlander. Back when NBC decided to do a nighttime version of the show starring Ben Cross, I interviewed Kathryn Leigh Scott, who played Maggie Evans on the very first episode of the original Dark Shadows (which was then in black and white and live!) and starred in House of Dark Shadows, the MGM theatrical film. We have been friends ever since. Before I knew Kathryn I was a huge fan of the show, now I am an even bigger fan of the woman who has kept the excitement about the show alive for 50 (!!) years through her own publishing imprint and appearances at the annual Dark Shadows' festivals. Here's this week's 'Lunch' column where we talk about the show's landmark anniversary as well as her stunning new memoir, Last Dance at the Savoy.
